Itinerary

Day 1: Fes to Merzouga Desert – Through Mountains and Oases

Your desert adventure begins with an early departure from your Fes hotel, driving south and ascending into the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains. The first stop is the unique city of Ifrane, often nicknamed “Morocco’s Switzerland.” Next, we continue to the famous cedar forests of Azrou, where you may spot wild Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.

After enjoying a lunch break in Midelt, the route descends toward the Sahara. You’ll travel through the stunning Ziz Valley, pausing to admire a panoramic view of the vast, lush palm oasis. Finally, by late afternoon, you will arrive at the impressive Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga, where you will settle into your desert-edge hotel for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.

Day 2: Explore Merzouga & Camel Trek – Nomads, Music, and Dunes

Today is dedicated to a deep, immersive exploration of the Sahara region. After breakfast, you will embark on an exciting 4*4 excursion around the Erg Chebbi dunes.

Highlights include:

  • Visiting the Hassi Labied oasis to see its traditional irrigation canals.

  • Experiencing the captivating Gnawa music in Khamlia village, a spiritual sound with ancient roots.

  • Sharing mint tea with a nomadic Berber family in their traditional tent to learn about their resilient way of life.

After lunch, your memorable camel trek begins, taking you into the heart of the Erg Chebbi dunes. You’ll pause atop a high dune to witness a spectacular sunset and have the chance to try sandboarding. Finally, you’ll arrive at your traditional Berber desert camp for a delicious dinner, local music around a campfire, and an overnight stay under a vast, star-filled sky.

Day 3: Merzouga to the Dades Valley – Canyons and Kasbahs

An early start is rewarded with the breathtaking sight of a desert sunrise. Following breakfast at the camp, you will either ride your camel or take a 4*4 transfer back to the village to meet your driver.

If it is a market day (Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday), we will make an optional visit to the bustling traditional market in Rissani. The journey then continues through small Berber villages to the majestic Todra Gorge, a towering canyon where you can walk to soak in the dramatic scenery. After lunch, we travel to the picturesque Dades Valley for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 4: Dades Valley to Marrakech – Across the High Atlas Peaks

Today marks the scenic final leg of your tour. We depart the Dades Valley, passing through the fragrant Rose Valley and the expansive Skoura palm grove. Our next major stop is Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” where you can visit the historic Taourirt Kasbah and film studios.

Next, we drive to the iconic Ksar Ait Ben Haddou, a spectacular UNESCO World Heritage fortified village and legendary film location. You’ll have time here to explore and enjoy lunch.

Finally, prepare for the dramatic crossing of the High Atlas Mountains via the highest road, the Tizi N’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters), which offers impressive views of Berber villages. You will arrive in the vibrant city of Marrakech in the late afternoon, concluding your unforgettable adventure.
